1. Mundane Name
Yep, I have one

2. Mundane Job:
project manager/doc control/tech writer/oter business-like activities

3. Persona name:
Johanna Ludwiger von Hertesbergk

4. How did you come up with your name?
My late grandfather's name was John Louis Cramer, but as he grew up in a German-speaking house he was Johann Ludwig at home. Hertzberg castle is in the area where that part of my family is from.  This spelling is one of the easier period spellings. The Schloss Hertzberg website is kind enough to show the spellings from the 11th - 15th century.

5. Where and when did your persona live?
Anywhere that had cool hats, really

6. What is your Known World Location?
The Shire of Esfenn, Principality of the Mists, in the Kingdom of the West.

7. What kingdom do you consider to be your home?
West

8. How long have you played?
13 years

9. How did you get started?
Some friends took me to a meeting on campus. I volunteered for my first office then, without ever having been to an event.

10. Why did you join?
I like dress-up societies

11. Have you registered a name?
Yes

12. Have you registered a device?
Yes. Azure, in pale three bears passant argent.

13. What awards have you been granted? In what kingdom did you receive these awards?
Several...
The one that is most special to me is the Princess' Order of Grace from Cathering of Wessex.
I'm also amused to have two AoAs  - one from Caid, one from the West.

14. How many events do you attend each year?
I've never really counted - many?

15. What is the best event you have ever been to?
I dunno. There have been many good ones.

16. What is the worst event you have ever been to?
Anything that is a meeting. I get enough of those at work. I like doing stuff for the society, but I'm not super-keen on going to meetings about it.

17. What event do you make it to every year?
Crowns, Coronets, Invetitures, Coronations (except Purg), 12th Night, Esfenn First Sword, Feast of Fine Arts

18. What event do you refuse to go to?
Ducal Prize.

19. Who is your favorite person to hang out with at an event with?
What is this "hanging out" that you speak of?  I am working!

20. What activities do you participate in?
Sewing, heraldry, lists, calligraphy, autocrating, cooking, embroidery, millinery, dying, chronicling, photography...

21. What activity would you like to learn?
Metalworking

22. Are you a marshal?
Not warranted

23. How many tents have you had destroyed at events?
None

24. Has your garb ever caught on fire?
No

25. Have you ever woke up in a strange person’s tent?
No

26. Do you have a pavilion?
Yes.

27. Are you a peer?
No

28. Do you ever want to be a peer?
That would be nice, but I don't base my worth or activities in the SCA on it.

29. Is a coincidence that peer rhymes with beer?
Linguistically, P and B are the same letter with one voiced and the other not voiced. This has no bearing on anythign, really.

30. Are you a squire, apprentice or protegee?
No. I'm an apprentice and a protege. AKA, an apprentige.

31. Who would you like to be squired, apprenticed or protegee'd to?
I've already taken care of this, it seems.

32. What is your war cry?
"Done is beautiful"

33. Have you ever been pulled off of the field for your safety?
No

34. What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you in armor?
Having a fencing blow called "light"

35. Have you read copora?
Yes.

36. Circlets, how do you feel?
I think they're swell. Definitely the best way to keep a veil on.

37. What household(s) do you belong to?
Bellatrix... Legion of Gad's Daughters... Raven Company... Ermine Company...I'd say de Vendome and du Royon, but really I'm just bringing in all of my peers into one huge happy camping family

38. If you could change one thing about the SCA what would it be?
I wish that people would remember that "the dream" is an amalgom of all the individual dreams that everyone brings to this game. There is no wrong way to play. If folks don't want to participate in something, that's OK, but I don't appreciate people who try to discourage other folks from doing something new or making changes. As long as an activity is appropriate for our mileu, I like to give people the opportunity to give it a try. The "we don't do it that way" crowd really ticks me off, especially since they're often the "why doesn't somebody (who isn't me) do XX" crowd. New people are the lifeblood of the society and I think it's important to support them in creating their Dream, too.

39. What is your favorite part of the SCA?
My lovely friends.

40. What is your SCA Goal for the next 7 years?
Make more hats.

What kind of metalwork do you want to learn? I'd be willing to share the knowledge of things I've done or know, in theory.

Things I've done -
Gold or silver smithing
---Fabrication
---Casting (silver, only)
metal thread embroidery
wire wrapping for Viking knotwork (just learned that)
welding
bronze casting
copper enameling
repousse
maille
chain weaving
there's probably more that just doesn't come to mind right now.

Things I know in theory
Whitesmithing (tin)

Things I NEED to learn
blacksmithing (I own a forge)

Thank you! I'd love to learn.

I'm interested in casting and gold and silver smithing. I've done some silver (and coper and brass) work, but nothing too extensive: shaping and soldering mostly. Making period jewelry is my primary interest.

I'd love to learn welding, too.

Oh I've done some metal thread embroidery, but would love to do more. It is a bit tedious, but looks so cool.

My hubby knows some blacksmithing and might be willing to share his knowledge with us.

Silver and gold construction, I have the equipment for and we can do. Casting will require we do the beginning steps one place and then go find
somewhere that we can do the burn-out and the actual casting. I'm sure we can find places. Welding is no problem. I have all that equipment. Since it's period jewelry you want (no big surprise here), we'll have to learn granulation, too.

That would be more than fabulous if we could set up a knowledge trade.

That sounds like fun!

I'm trying not to bounce too much in my seat while I'm at work.
