Successful sewing night

There weren't a lot of people at sewing night, so I got a lot done. I'm nearly done with the German hat for the silent auction. The shot silk that

ysabella_dolfingave me for accents is super-sexy with the black velvet.

I also got a start on the new persian undershirt for myself, with moriven's help. I cut, pin, and iron, he runs the machine. We've gotten quite efficient at this. misagilliangot a little farther on her dress. I'm looking forward to seeing that finished soon, since it looks a lot like clothing now.

The peach pie I brought was yummy. The leftover strawberry pie was a hit, too. I was hoping for more people to help eat them. I was happy with the crumb upper crust on the peach pie, which came from a crumb cake recipe. For these, I tried out the TJ's pre-made pie crusts. I usually make my own, but I do like to have options. I would use these again, as they were not dry nor too thin - like many I've used - and so were easy to work with. 

Marguerite gave me a new cake recipe to try. It will be the first time I've tried meringue with the new mixer. I'm hoping it'll do well, since I love meringue and haven't been able to make it in ages.

But no, I was finishing up work, arguing with the electrician, and getting ready for an all-day class.

Wow! It's been so very long since I was able to go that I completely spaced it out. Funny, since I remembered earlier in the day, but by the time evening had rolled around, that memory was gone. Oh, well. Next time :)

I was sewing with you "in spirit" as I was doing some finish work on my Persian Coat". Still have some hand work to do, but for the most part it is done... *grin*

Oh Man! Such deliciousness! I wish I lived in your area. You'd see me at sewing night, even if I didn't like to sew, just to get at those goodies!

It sounds like an eating night as well as a sewing night! I make a good strawberry shortcake using a scone recipe in place of that spongy cake most people use, but I seldom bake pies. I leave that to MaestraTeresa. Her apple pie is to die for.

I LOOOOVE baking. Sewing night is just another excuse to inflict my (other!) obsession on people.

And with the summer fruit season well under way... life is good.
