Last night around midnight we were awakened by a bright flash of light outside our bedroom window and a huge BOOM that shook the house. This set off two car alarms - one in our shared driveway on the other side of our townhouse. Just as our heartrates were slowing to normal, two more explosions went off. We were NOT AMUSED.
The bears were especially upset by the fireworks and Ludwig needed lots of reassurance this morning, too.
I'm not sure why, but I expected some sort of carnage on the street when I stepped out to go to work - maybe a burn mark on the asphalt - but there wasn't anything. I'm oddly disappointed by that.
ETA:
I learned last year that calling emergency services for this is... unsatisfying... because they route fire works complaints to the fire dept, not the police, so, unless there is a fire or injury, calling doesn't do much. Having the fire dept. "patrol" the neighborhood really isn't all that intimidating.
