The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

Garlic is glue

In my quest to get as much feast prep out of the way ahead of time, today was garlic day. Three pounds of garlic went into the violet garlic sauce (violet may be a generous description - it is a healthy brown color - but the cherries that are supposed to make it violet-colored do add a neat flavor). Then I chopped the five pounds of garlic for the garlic mushrooms. Even with the food processor, or perhaps because of it, I covered the counter with a film of garlic glue.

I also made the wheat free gingerbread today. Strictly speaking, it isn't gingerBREAD, since I used spelt four in lieu of bread crumbs, but the idea is the same: add spices (ginger, say) and a starch to warmed honey and let it set. I colored this batch slightly red with currants. Yum. The wheaten gingerbread that I'll make after I get the store to pick up more honey will be the "classic" gold color so we can tell the difference at the event.

Tonight I think I'll make the fritter batter. The scaled recipe starts with 30 eggs...
