Shameless Plug II
Feb. 6th, 2008 05:37 pmThanks,
mediea, for nudging me about this.
The Esfenn Feast of Fine Arts and First Sword have been combined into one event (the Feast of First Sword? Feast of First Arts? Feast of Fine Swords? Eh, something. I think it's under First Sword in the Page.) and will be on Saturday, September 6, which is the event date formerly known as Mists Bardic. (Yes, I know it's not on the web calendar. Yes, the web minister has been reminded. Nevertheless, it is in the Page and we're going to go with it.) We'll be in the same park as the past couple of First Swords. On thinking about it, that isn't really helpful since only like two dozen people have been to First Sword.
During the day, there will be the usual tournament and prize melees. Geoffrey Scott will be in charge of the day's fighting, so expect a lot of it. I will be rounding up some bocce sets for people who are not martially inclined during the day. And who knows? Perhaps spontaneous dancing will happen, too.
The hall, which is next to the tourney field, will open in the afternoon. The feast and entertainment will begin some time around 3 pm. We will be alternating courses with entertainments as we did last year. So far we have several fine entertainers lined up and plan on more singing and dancing as well. The hall is much larger than last year's so we'll have much more space for dancing and fun.
The feast wil be cooked by Branwen Cryccthegn Deorcwuda. She is basing the courses off of a period poem or song, which I can't remember at the moment. Feast tickets will be $18 and must be purchased in advance because the site rules prohibit us from collecting money on site. There is no site fee, so anyone who wishes to fight in the tourney or sit off board during the feast are welcome to do so. The shire, of course, would never turn away a kindly donation.
I will be posting more updates as I have them. I will have feast tickets for sale at various events or you can contact me through my listing in the Page (see Mists Chronicler) and I'll mail them to you.
