Costume meme

Costumers all tend to have a specific era or genre that appeals to us aesthetically, which is fine, but sometimes we get too focused and fail to appreciate other eras or genres that might suit our body type, our facial features, or even just challenge us to think outside the box a little bit. So, I'm opening the floor for suggestions: Give me one costume you'd want me to wear, and why. Picture links appreciated. :)

Ramblings of an Introvert

A pop headology magazine that we have been receiving mysteriously (er, the why of the receiving is mysterious; neither one of us signed up for a subscription. We've been getting them in the mail, which isn't mysterious at all.)  had an article about introversion a few months ago that I thought was very interesting. In essence, they hypothesized (well, theorized, since the writers use the research of others) that introverts are exhausted by extensive contact with others because they do more behavioral analysis throughout the contact. Constantly analyzing the nuances of communication is draining just like any other concentrated thought process: short bursts, no problem; over a greater period, a bit of a strain. 

It's an interesting theory. I'd like to hear more about the research. At the least, it's refreshing to hear about psycological research that doesn't make it sound like we introverts are antisocial freaks.

10 Random Things Meme

I love this one. Especially reading it in other people's journals and wondering which ones apply to me. It's really fun to speculate when more than one might fit.

1. You haven't been as reliable as you used to be. I'm worried about you and distressed becuase I'm picking up more of the load. This wouldn't be such a big deal to me, but I used to take care of this and you specifically told me that you'd take care of this stuff and you haven't followed through. I feel like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't: either I take care of this and go against your wishes or I don't take care of it and nothing gets done. 

2. Bend over a little. *sigh* yeah, baby.

3. Enough with the putting yourself down already. You're talented. You're beautiful. No, you don't have my mad sewing skilz, but you haven't been doing it for as long as I have. In fact, you've just started learning. You don't get to beat yourself up about it for another 30 years, at least. Maybe longer, because I get to count genetics, too.

4. I sure hope your mom's doing better. Please keep us updated. <3

5. I'd really like to spend time with you being crafty. I want to schedule some time to learn some of the stuff you know. You are so talented. I just want to roll around in the extra skill that oozes off of you. It does, right? 

6. I miss you.

7. You are so knowledgeable in your area, so giving in all realms of service, and so good at presenting a single period and location SCA presence.  I really wish that you could tone back the snarkiness so that you could be elevated to a peerage. I love the snarkiness. I think it's funny, but it's holding you back from the accolades you deserve.

8. Sometime it's you that's the problem, not him. You can't change him, but you can change how you react to him.

9. You're really insightful. I hope you keep posting your commentary. I'm sorry that there has been some backlash. Being the voice of reason/dissent can't be easy.

10. You've saying you're going to change this or that in your life for as long as I've known you, but you never do. I'm begining to wonder whether this stuff bothers you as much as you claim. If it does then make the changes you need to, for heavens' sake. I don't like to see you unhappy in your life, but I'm having a hard time being sympathetic to you any more. You have the power to make yourself happy. Please do.
