Dilemma

I've been a contractor here for about 9 months and they have opened a job req for my position. If I apply, I will likely get the job. That would be great, but...

When I got here I was managing a project. Since then, I have been doing mostly event planning. This is some project management, some design and writing (all fun) and a whole lot of administratinve stuff that's boring.

Now, the manager for this position knows that I'm looking for more challenge and has urged me to apply anyway (the get your foot in the door theory), so I wouldn't feel like I was deceiving her if I looked for other positions. But I'd be back to where I was in SF - dreading coming to work because I'm bored much of the time.

At least here I know management isn't working against me. Hmph.

Almost there

Moriven and I have been working on redoing the office/sewing room into a sewing room/second bedroom. We're finally getting close. We moved out the desks and computer and bought huge storage cabinets. I have been busily putting things into the cabinets and making room to sew (still need to start on 12th night). Intermediate goal: clearing the floor enough to vacuum.

I need to have enough space cleared for sewing before Moriven's brother & family come to stay for a week over Christmas. And then there's making the house safe for their baby & toddler. At least we have our nifty new camp bed for them to use.

Apparently we failed with the b-day present for the toddler (just 2 this month). We got her the bunny from Monty Python's Holy Grail. Soft, fuzzy, remarkably lifelike until you open its mouth and see the fangs. I understand it was traumatic. I still think it was a cool gift. I would have thought that B-I-L would have known about the teeth since it had the Monty Python tag on it. Oh well. Have to do better at Christmas.
