Bearing Fruit
I'm excited! Two of the blueberry bushes we put in are developing berries! The red currant has a few fruit developing, too. I didn't expect to see them bear fruit while so young. Yippee!
The two limes have tons of fruit developing, especially the palestine lime. The nectarine, cherry, and apple are all blossoming as well. I'm irked that a neighbor's leaf curl has traveled to my nectarine. I also have the trifecta of rose fungi: blackspot, rust, and mildew. I'm looking forward to having some time to treat them (stupid rain). And weed, I'd like to do that, too. Still, I should get a photo; one of the roses is taller than the apple tree.
I did the first, no, second, round of planting stuff I started inside. The first round was sunflowers and they're doing so-so. They took a hit from the slugs, but I hit back. I threw in some more seeds along that fence, so we'll see how many plants I end up with. The sweet peas have started to take off, too. But from this second round, I put in some lavender and the first of the catnip. Hee. In putting them in, I've discovered a pretty huge ant colony. We'll be putting out bait tomorrow and diatomaceous earth once the weather dries up a bit.
In other news, the veggies beds are full. Yay! We have:
lettuce: romaine, redleaf, and greenleaf
tomatoes: roma, yellow, beefsteak
onions: walla walla and chives
potatoes, red and blue
cucumbers: eating and pickling
strawberries
zucchini
brocolli
seeds for peas, beans, corn, basil, nasturtiums (hey, thye're edible), and carrots (Nothing counts until I see sprouts, of course.)
Next, I need to figure out where to move my calla lilies so I can use that pot for oregano. It's enough of a weed that I don't want it rambling all over the yard. The rest of the lavender and the catnip needs to go in, too. I might pot some ot the catnip to plant later in the season.
