Arts Update
So, the Feast of Fine Arts is proceeding with only a tiny amount of background teeth gnashing and head banging.
Yes! We still have tickets! Just because the site rules prohibit us from collecting money on site,doesn't mean our exchequer can't walk across the street to take your money doesn't mean that you couldn't still mail in a check! (I got yours, by the way, kahnegabs. Thank you.)
In other realms of my artistic endeavors, I have taken a moment to slap some sense into my self. No, I will not enter the Arts competitions at October Crown, no matter how fun and sexy Durer Drawers would be or how full of [something] it would be to use men's thong underwear in the ballistics competition (it's a pouch, right? Like a sling for, uh, stones). My mind, she wanders, but my research, she is sound.
At the last (well, really, first) minute I remembered that A) I don't do arts competitions and B) I have a boatload of arts projects already on the drawing board.
My project list is making me feel a tiny bit like I'm changing majors, so to speak. In no particular order:
- Finish painting the headboard and footboard of my bed (the second coat of paint went on tonight!)
- Paint the last pole for my pavilion (sorry for the missed word in my last post - painting the pavilion itself will have to wait).
- Prep for the hat workshop weekend in Tarnmist*
- Paint vittoriosa's virginal
- Finish assembling the new camp boxes
- Paint the new camp boxes
- Shop for 12th night fabric
- Make 12th night dress (Go unicorn tapestry dress! I've decided on Touch, with the headgear from Sound.)
- Alter Henry 8's for moriven, if possible and neccessary. I suspect I'm going to have to let out the shoulders. And the thighs. Bleh. Alterations.
- Make pimpin' coat for ian_hess
- Become inspired about an outfit for Janos.
- Make Janos' outfit
- optional: make blue velvet skirt to go with the blue velvet doublet (that old thing?) to wear at Oct. Crown, since I don't like the silk taffeta overskirt I have currently.
- Publish the Tempus Nebulorum for Mists Coronet.** Articles, anyone?
- Make more scrolls.
* The new date is Sept 27. If anyone suggests *this time* that it would be a good weekend to go down to Tarnmist to have a fighter practice with his squire, we will have words, because I still view it as a dismissive insult to my art and me as a teacher. And, yes, your squire needs a hat.
** I was really touched to read in this month's Page that the Tempus and her contributors had been nominated in four categories for Master William Blackfox Awards. I had no idea folks liked what I've been doing so well. Thanks for the nominations.
